Search Server 2008 or 2010 Installation

We have WSS 3.0 sp2 installed. Now we want to install Search server 2008 or 2010. However I have following queries.

1. Is Search server 2008 Express and Search Server 2010 Express free to install and use like WSS 3.0 and SFS 2010?

2. Can  Install Search Server 2010 Express edition on WSS 3.0 on 32 bit or only on 64 bit environment.

Can you please share some good artricles on installation and whitepaper if available on Search Server Express for 2008 and 2010.

Yes, Search server 2008 express edition is free to install and can be installed on WSS 3.0


However Search Server 2010 Express needs to be installed only on Sharepoint Foundation Server 2010 and only on 64 bit machine.
