conversion of paper share to online Demat account
in Investing by Cheryl
I have some 30 shares certificate of Reliance Industries on my name. This was purchase long time back by my father.

I have recently opened a Online trading and demat account with ICICIdirect. Now I want to convert my paper share certificate to my online demat account. Does anyone knows the process of it? Anyone done this before with ICICIdirect.

I am in Hyderabad.

Yes I have done it with ICICI. All you need to do it visit the nearest ICICI bank branch that offers demat services. Note. all the ICICI bank doesn't have this service. So make sure that the branch you are visiting offers the demat service. Once you are there they will give you a dematerialisation form. You need to fill in this form with details like stock name, demat account etc and submit this form along with the original share certificate. It may take 30-34 days for the stock to get into your online demat account. And if you are going to have different stocks that you want to convert to your online demat account, then you need to fill in separate form for it. Please confirm this with the bank.
