Problem/Requirement:

How to Link from SharePoint Document Library to UNC path folder on the network?

Solution:

1.       Create Shortcut (.lnk) to the UNC path folder

2.       Go to the SharePoint Central Administration site and remove .Ink from the blocked file type.

3.       Now go to your SharePoint site

4.       Upload the Shortcut (.lnk) file to the document library using upload multiple documents option

Note: If you use upload document option the shortcut to the folder will open the files in that folder. Hence use “Upload multiple documents” option while uploading the Shortcut to the document library
