Since last one month we are facing a very weird issue.

Issue: Whenever users are trying to export to spreadsheet the document library in Sharepoint 2007 with SP2 it gives error “cannot get list schema column property from the SharePoint list “

This happens on the list and document libraries

The user is using Office 2007 and Internet Explorer 7. Can somebody suggest any solution?

We have found two workaround given below we need some resolution to this.

There are two workarounds that we have found till now

A.       Remove the ‘Modified by’ and ‘Created by’ or any other custom column whose type is Person & Group

                                   i.             Go to the Lists or the document library

                                 ii.             Click on List/document Settings

                               iii.             Under Views section ( at the bottom end of the page), Click on  “All Documents” or click on your default view

                                iv.             Under Column section, please un check ‘Modified by’ and ‘Created by’

                                  v.             Click OK, and try to export to the datasheet view

B.       Change the Show Field Type of the ‘Modified by’ and ‘Created by’ or any other custom column whose type is Person & Group

                                   i.             Go to the Lists or the document library

                                 ii.             Click on List/document Settings

                               iii.             Under columns section click on ‘Modified by’ and ‘Created by’ and any other column whose type is Person & Group

                                iv.             Next, change the Show field type to User name for each of the above column.

                                  v.             Click OK, and try to export to the datasheet view
