The other day I was watching Sholay and then suddenly I realize that I may have watch this movie more then 100 times now! I just love watching this masterpiece from Ramesh Sippy. It’s like growing up with Sholay. Every time I see Sholay I remember the first time I watched it on Video CD. It was like party that day with people from neighboring buildings my cousins all joining in.

In the Indian movie industry there is hardly any movie that can match up with Sholay. The movie has Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar,Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Hema Malini. You may wonder how I can forget to mention the deadly Gabbar Singh a role immortalized by late Amjad Khan. Well is there any discussion of Sholay and Gabbar Singh is not part of it? I say never. The moment you talk about Sholay your minds robotically gets thinking of scary Gabbar Singh.

It is said that after hearing the story of Sholay, Amitabh wanted to play the role of Gabbar Singh but better sense prevailed and Sippy never went ahead and listen to Amitabh desire. If he had I guess we would have been deprived of one of the most fearsome character played on silver screen. We all know what happened to Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag where Amitabh played the role of Gabbar Singh.

I can go on and on talking about Sholay and the way it has kept the generations of Indian movie watchers spellbound with its magical storyline and brilliant performance from all the characters. But I cannot write anymore because as I think more about it there is deep urge mounting in me to watch it one more time! Let me go and watch it again one more time.
